Choose the Right Dog Bed for the Comfort of Your Companion
Whether it is a new puppy, or a pet you have had for years, each
deserves a dog bed of his or her own. Be it a dog carrier, a dog
house, or even just a washable cushion in a quiet corner, your pet
will appreciate having its own dog bed. This will also provide
your pet with a territory in the house, their own little ‘safety zone’,
where they can retreat to when things are hectic.
As we age, our requirements for comfort and relaxation change. It
is the same for our pets, and a dog bed will provide the older canine
with a warm, soft place to sleep or lay down. Available with or without
heat, dog beds come in a multitude of varieties. Other features you may
want to consider for the older pets are beds or cushions that have non-slip
bottoms (especially for hard wood or laminate floors), polyfoam or memory
foam for joint support., and the proper size requirement for your dog. Also
important is the washability of either the cover or the whole bed. If it is
for a fairly active dog, cedar chips provide a deodorizing scent, as well as
help keep ticks and fleas at bay.
A suitable dog bed can be purchased at most stores carrying dog supplies or
dog toys. There are, however, some things to consider before purchasing one.
How large is the dog; will the bed be inside or outside; is it for the inside
of a dog house; does the whole bed need to be washable, or is washing the
cover sufficient; what level of comfort are you looking to provide? These
are all important considerations to be made before supplying this necessity in dog care.
