Dog Coats Are Not Just for Pampered Pooches
While you may think a natural fur coat is enough for your pet, there are a number of
practical reasons to check out the selection of dog coats and other dog apparel available
to outfit your best friend. For example, reflective dog coats, as well as vests and dog
collars, are important for the safety of our pets, especially when being taken for a walk,
or playing at the park after dark.
While dog coats may seem understandable for shorthaired dogs in cooler climates, you may
be pleasantly surprised at how much cleaner your housekeeping will be when you start
outfitting any of your four-legged friends in a raincoat and dog boots. Even in the summer, a
shorthaired dog can be outfitted in a light jacket, and even a hat and goggles, to reduce the
chance of sunburn, since dogs can suffer from these just as easily as humans can.
An interesting new idea for dog coats to keep our pets safe has recently been patented in
Finland; an electric dog coat, which protects the domestic animal from predators, since there
is apparently a problem with wolves attacking the family pets in that Scandinavian country.
When the wolf, or any other predator, bites through the outer layer, one thousand volts of
electricity gives it one heck of a jolt, but the coat is designed so that the pet feels no pain.
