Dog Jewelry for You and Your Pet
While the first impression to hearing about dog jewelry may be, ‘Who in their right mind buys
jewels for their pet?’ there are some other ways to look at it. Dog accessories are becoming
more fashionable every year, with products available on the internet, in specialty stores for
pets, and there may soon be areas in department stores exclusively for dog jewelry and other
dog apparel.
If the dog jewelry is to be worn by your pet, the comfort and safety of the dog should always
come first. Never use the jewelry for anything but a decoration, and certainly not in place
of a collar, leash or in place of dog tags. Always keep a close eye on the animal, and remove
the offending item if the dog is pawing at it or shows any signs of discomfort. Dressing up
should be fun for you and your dog, more importantly the latter.
A more practical use of dog jewelry would be that worn by a human. What a wonderful dog breed
gift for someone who is hard to buy for. Don’t know what to get Aunt Rose for her 50th birthday?
How about a charm for her bracelet with her favorite breed of dog? For the man with a Collie,
a gold ring with a Lassie look-alike, or the woman with a Yorkshire Terrier, who would love a
pendant flaunting that marvelous breed.
